Some Of The Prophecies About Jesus

By Carl Morris

Christians believe Jesus to be the son of God and was sent to the world to save them from their sins. They believing that his coming was known for hundreds of years before he actually descended. Christians believe that a lot of prophets in the old testament foresaw his coming. Below are some of the prophecies about Jesus.

It was predicted that all the nations of the world would be blessed through the lineage of Abraham. This is why Abraham is considered the father of all nations. This is according to Genesis 12:3. This prophecy did come to pass in the book of Acts 3:25-26 in the new testament, which states that all of the offspring of the prophets will be blessed through the covenants their fathers made with God.

Blessing Abraham meant that the savior of the world would have to come from his lineage. Abraham was blessed with Isaac and God used Isaac to bless the rest of the world. It may have taken centuries but somewhere along the line came the great king David whom Jesus would be associated with. Matthew1:1 refers to him as Jesus the Messiah son of David, son of Abraham.

The prophet Isaiah foretold that Son of God would be born of a virgin girl. This is in the book of Isaiah 7:14. Later in the new testament, an angel appeared to Mary the mother of Son of God and informed her she would get pregnant. She was told it would be through the power of the holy spirit. This all happened in the book of Luke 1:35.

It was said that at one time, the Messiah would end up in Egypt. This is as indicated on the book of Hosea 11:1. Sure enough, after his birth, both Son of God and his parents had to flee from Israel to keep him safe. This is because the reigning king wanted to kill the new king he had heard of. According to matthew 2:14-15 God brought them back to Israel after King Herod was dead and no longer posed a threat to Son of God.

It was clearly stated that he would be inated in the town of Bethlehem in the city of Judea and this is written in the paper of Micah 5:2. As the years passed, people would still ask if the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem to which they were told he would. It was said a greater ruler would come from Bethlehem in relation to Matthew 2:4-6.

After sinning, humans and the serpents were to loathe each other for eternity. God proclaimed that the serpents would always bite the humans heel and the human would always crush the head of the serpent. According to Genesis 3:15. This was at the beginning of time and sure enough, Jesus came to destroy the work of the devil according to 1st John 3:18.

People used to place all of their sins on a blemish-free animal, mostly purely white colored and then sacrifice it to God as a way of repenting. This is according to Exodus 12:5. However, Son of God came to the world to take on the sins of every human being. He was a sinless soul and was, therefore, the ultimate sacrifice. Hebrews 9:14.
