The Process Of Job Offer Evaluation

By Paul Lewis

You got the job! are some of the words that can brighten your day. More so if it is your dream job. However, before signing a contract or agreeing to anything, you should take your time to weigh your options. Make sure that the offer is in line with what you expected or what you can work with. These are some of the things to look out during job offer evaluation.

Do your research on your employer. They of course took time to know you and decide you are the best fit so you should take your time to see if they are the best fit for you. Look at them on social media and see if people are more of negative or positive about the company. You may also ask questions to someone who works there.

We mostly depend on our salaries for everyday life. Make sure the salary they offer is in line with the services you are providing. Make sure that you do not actually spend more money than you receive. You may ask someone in a similar post if their pay id the same or better still, do research on how much the post you are being offered is supposed to pay.

Every job has to have perks. A large salary does not necessarily mean a greater life. You may be aware of the retirement plan of the company. It is more advisable to have a lower salary but a large portion of the money going to the retirement fund. You should also look at what kind of benefits you are eligible for and when they are available to you.

At times, the job you land is actually your dream job. It is exactly what you have been looking for but it is too far away from you. Commuting may be hectic especially through public means. The company is required to give you transport allowance or provide a company vehicle. The easier option may be to cover the costs of you moving closer and offering a rent allowance.

In case you are commuting, you should look at how much time you will spend from your place of residence and back every day. If the hours are long and tiresome, you may decide to move closer or give up the job. You should also inquire about the work load and how many times you will be required to stay back and work over time.

Make sure that the job is in line with your career path. Do not be quick to accept a job because the perks seem exciting. Make sure that it is something that you are actually comfortable doing and you will be able to eventually achieve your career goals. If you hop from one job to the next, your potential employers will see you as unsteady.

Do a little digging on the role you are supposed to play in the company. You see what standards are being set for you and if they are realistic. If they are not, you might as well leave the job because doing what they want you to do is actually impossible.
