Burying someone at sea means that your are disposing of their remains into the ocean. This activity can be carried our from an aircraft or from aboard a ship or boat. The navy makes use of this kind of burial practice often. There are, however, normal citizens can opt for this method for, personal reasons. In modern times today it is possible to now take the remains to land by airlifting them. The ship doesn't have to return to shore. The family can then say their final farewells and prepare a burial on land if that is their choice to do so.

There are unfortunate times when the remains of the deceased aren't available for disposal, however, the farewells must still be said. A memorial at sea can be held and flowers scattered into the ocean as a sign of love for the lost.

A full-body burial is quite a costly affair. How far off shore you are traveling and the number of passengers aboard the vessel all play a part in the final figure. Although the activity of burial at sea is an ancient one, today the federal and state laws governing it are quite stringent. If your loved one has chosen to be cremated, the scattering of the ashes into the ocean is a far less complex activity. There are many charters who cater to this very need. The laws pertaining to this are far less implicit.

It is never easy to say goodbye to a friend, a family member or someone who was your brother or sister during times of war. For someone who loved the ocean completely, this is the perfect send off. They will live on in the wind and waves forever while their memory will remain a part of your heart and mind always.
