How The Rwanda Education System Came Into Existence

It is believed that each of the 52 countries in Africa was colonized by European nations in the early 1900s. Even though they struggled to fight for their independence, there was a need to embrace change thanks to them. Their enormous contributions have led to technological advancement in most sectors. They have realized the need to update their statuses to connect with the rest of the world. There are various ways through a country can display this concept. It is evident that the Rwanda education system has taken advantage of this concept to grow economically.

In the early 1900s, education sector in Rwanda was mainly considered as informal and mainly done through the family. They mainly dealt with the military, war skills, artwork and blacksmith courses. By 1960, Rwandese embraced formal schooling thanks to Belgian census which helped in classifying the population based on ethnic and racial lines. The main group known as Tutsis had a brilliant opportunity of enrolling in the best schools to get the best at the expense of Hutus. This caused a lot of ethnic tensions which later led to the civil war.

As time went by, the system slowly embraced remarkable growth in matters related to access to better facilities. Consequently, it has recognized this sector as a critical investment for future development and growth of the country. It has come up with various instruments which deal in improving educational standards. It is responsible for the construction of classrooms, providing learning materials and planning which sets and evaluates standards according to performance.

Rwandese schooling system as the embraced use of modern technology right from junior primary schools to tertiary institutions. Its national strategy involves information and communication technology to emphasize of ICT. In each class, students are taught how to use computers to solve daily problems. In fact, it is a general requirement for each student to own a laptop which is part of their project.

The Rwandese educational system is run by 6 years for primary school, 3 years for junior secondary, 3years for senior secondary and 4 years for the tertiary level system. It operates in three languages including; English, Kinyarwanda, and French which is taught as a supplementary subject in preprimary schools.

Improvement in quality of education has led to an increase in graduates. In fact, more than 44,000 students are admitted into universities each year. They are allowed to enroll in science, law, and art related courses as partial fulfillment for their careers. The system has put in place measures that understand the plight of teachers.

Ever since modern standards of living was introduced, the Rwandese formal education sector has managed to admit 44,000 students into tertiary institutions each year. They have created a total of 31 students of which 17 are public and 14 are private. In fact, they have accommodated the students into the job sector owing to their competence.

Rwandese citizens have gone through torturous experiences during the genocide. To revive its statuses, it has managed to work with foreign countries. As a result, it has managed to produce the most responsible citizens in the world. With efficient measures, it has managed to ensure more students are absorbed in the job sectors.
